The Drum is a Black-led multi art-form venue that is dedicated to the development, celebration and presentation of African, Asian and Caribbean arts and cultural activities for the benefit of all. The drum supports the development of contemporary Black artistic practice and involves people from every section of the community in cultural activities that challenge and delight. The drum's work includes:
- Programmes, training and education initiatives supportive of contemporary Black arts practice.
- A programme of spoken word, film, dance, multimedia training, jazz, comedy, theatre, visual arts, music and workshops
- Speakeasy: A networking forum for theatre artists and other practitioners
- Young Gifted Brum: A continuous programme of free weekly creative workshops for children and young people
