Karen Meng is a recent graduate with a BA(Hons) in Film and Cultural Sociology from the University of Nottingham. At university she was involved in theatre tech, writing for the student magazine and volunteering at local arts festivals. As a project assistant at Hybrid she is primarily involved with project research, event production and communications. Her placement is very much about learning and gaining experience in the cultural sector, and with that in mind she is keen to take on new challenges and explore a variety of roles.
Her particular interests are in notions of diversity, inclusion and citizenship and how these feed into cultural practice and policy. Specifically, the lived experience and everyday interactions of individuals, and meaning-making processes they engage with, when forming their own unique identities and ways of being in the world.
