These are our images of ROAD WORKS, the Birmingham City Council contribution to PARK(ing) Day, a project that takes metered parking spaces and turns them into temporary parks. We had a traditional garden complete with sweet williams and a cold frame; a camera obscura built to look like a garden shed; a grow-your-own installment that referenced the Second World War 'Dig for Victory' campaign; some communal art and an interesting little hide-away complete with binoculars with which to spy on the urban 'wildlife.' It definitely transported Colmore Row and Waterloo Street into unexpected imaginative spaces, even if only for a day.
